At Comprehensive Physical Therapy Center (CPTC), our staff is comprised of clinicians with a combined 50 years of experience…and counting. All have earned Physical Therapy degrees from an accredited university recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association and have continued to remain active members of our profession’s national organizational body. Our clinicians are all licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina and practice in accordance with our state practice act.
Our clinicians have continued to push their level of expertise by routinely attending continuing education seminars annually. In addition to patient care, our clinicians also actively seek to get involved in the community by guest lecturing and hosting various educational seminars. Finally, our clinicians serve as clinical instructors in the role of academics for local and national physical therapy graduate programs by annually hosting graduate interns.
At CPTC, we are proud to employ several therapists who have further distinguished themselves in our profession by obtaining various clinical specialist distinctions. The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recognize “professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. They conduct sport specific training and conditioning programs and provide guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention. Today more than 21,000 professionals from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds hold this prestigious credential. The CSCS is the only training and conditioning certification to be nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).” *
The Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) is designated to those therapists who have successfully passed and become board certified orthopedic clinical specialists as recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association. Currently, there are only 4,500 physical therapists nationwide who hold this distinction and fewer than 100 in the state of North Carolina. “To become a clinical specialist, a physical therapist builds a broad base of professional education and practice to develop greater knowledge and skills related to a particular area of practice. Specialist certification is obtained by demonstrating competence in both specialized knowledge and advanced clinical proficiency. Minimum standards for competence include 2,000 hours of direct patient care in the specialty area and successful completion of a written examination.” **
In addition, our staff has also received several professional accolades for excellence in practice. Bruce received the 2002 “Excellence in Physical Therapy Practice Award” from the North Carolina Physical Therapy Association. He has also received clinical education awards from the Carolina Clinical Education Consortium in 1996 and from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2005.
Our therapists pride themselves on providing our patients with the very best, personalized care. Below is a more detailed description of each physical therapist.
